Akashi Municipal Planetarium
The Akashi Municipal Planetarium is the oldest functioning planetarium in Japan. It is located on the same longitudinal line as Japanese Standard Time. In fact, the closest train station, “Hitomarumae”, is known as the only station located on this longitudinal line in Japan.
Uonotana
The popular Uonotana fish market is famous for its catch of the day, known as “Hiruami”, to be sold for lunch time. An array of fresh marine products from the Port of Akashi is neatly displayed for shoppers. The market offers a selection of sushi restaurants and a local dish called “Akashiyaki”, pancake balls filled with octopus.
